Leader of the Social Democrat Party in Transylvania, member of the Governing Council of Transylvania (1918-1920), president of the General Confederation of Labour (1926-1938)
Held under arrest for three months in 1945 by the communist authorities on the grounds that he had disseminated “banned manifestos”. He was re-arrested in 1948 and sentenced to fifteen years harsh imprisonment for the “crime of high treason”. He died in Gherla prison on 7 June 1953.
