November 20, 2006: “The parliamentary elections of 19 November 1946. From collective memory to historical research”

On the sixtieth anniversary of the rigged elections of 19 November 1946, the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and to the Resistance, in collaboration with the Maramures County Department of the National Archives and the Maramures Branch of the Society of Historical Sciences, organised on 17-18 November 2006 a symposium titled “The Parliamentary Elections of 19 November 1946: From collective memory to historical research”. The invited participants included Prof. Univ. Dr. Dumitru Sandru, Prof. Univ. Dr. Vasile Vesa, Prof. Univ. Dr. Gheorghe Cipaianu, Conf. Univ. Dr. Liviu Tirau, Conf. Univ. Dr. Virgiliu Tarau. On behalf of the Centre of Studies of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and to the Resistance participated Andrea Dobes, Corina Cimpoeru, Andreea Carstea, Virginia Ion, Marius Uglea, Kondrat Norbert, Robert Fürtös, and Gheorghe Mihai Bârlea.
